Concerned Citizens for the Continuation of American Democracy

  • I have never been aligned to a party because I am a moderate by nature and my main interest has always been voting for the person that I thought had the best history of protecting the interests of their constituents. Also, not being a big believer in the outlying interests of either party, I felt it was always necessary to vote in a manner that neither party had complete control of the House, Senate, and the Presidency. I did vote for Nixon’s second term, Ford, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, Reagan, George H.W. Bush (both times) and George W. Bush (both times). Now though, I feel that all of the responsible and moderate Republicans have been run off by the MEGA Republicans.

I do believe that there is a disparity between those of us that presently lean one way or the other based upon our sources of information. Honestly, I preferred the news when it was much more limited and committed to presenting all sides of important issues, not articles filled with opinions but based on the best facts available so that I could make my own decision concerning an issue. To this point, Republican supporters that I have talked to use Fox News as a source of information. I believe that there is a credibility issue there. I am not sure that everyone knows that Fox last year agreed to pay $787.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems (see: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65328457 ) for the lies Fox News propagated about the 2020 elections. Fox News agreed to this settlement knowing that they were still awaiting a hearing where they are being sued for $2.7 Billion by Smartmatic for basically the same lies. I will leave it there about Fox News, except to say that I personally feel that Fox News has an agenda that is not in the best interest of protecting our democracy.
